Handgun Qualification License Class HQL

On January 11th 2020 Public Security LLC will host a Maryland Handgun Qualification License class (HQL) in Queenstown, Maryland. Barry Donadio, a former member of the United States Secret Service will instruct the class.

Public Security LLC will be providing HQL training for $125 per person. This training is required for those seeking their HQL in Maryland.
This is the required class to have in order to buy a pistol in the state of Maryland. The class is a required 4 hours long, followed up with shooting the required one shot from a pistol at the range.

Payment must be received PRIOR to the class in order to reserve a seat in the training. If you do not attend the class, there are no refunds once payment is made.
We do accept Paypal payments. Just use Barry's email to send payment: barrydonadio@yahoo.com. Please send through PayPal as "friend" or "family" to avoid transfer fees.
We can also accept credit card payments, but there is a 4% transaction fee applied. Provide us with your email and we will issue an invoice that you can use to pay with a credit card online.
Each student is required to buy 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition from an American manufacturer prior to the class or at the shooting range upon our arrival. Please do not bring ammunition inside the classroom. Leave ammunition in your vehicle until we arrive at the shooting range. In addition to shooting for your HQL, we will also use the remaining bullets to train you to be a better tactical shooter with some pistol drills.
You are required to have your own transportation to and from the the shooting range. We are not authorized to transport students.

The class is very informal and relaxed with no pressure or stress. Round table atmosphere. Bring coffee and or food. Comfortable clothing. Sharing personal experiences during class encouraged. Past classes have been generally overall a good time and fun. Ask other past students.

We hope to be done by 3 pm but may be longer, depending on wait for the shooting range.
If you are taking this class, contact us ASAP so we know who is coming to the class. Classes fill very fast. Participants must arrive on time to receive credit for the training.
Once training is complete, fill out your HQL application online at the Maryland State Police website. It is important to let us know when you completed your application, so we can give you credit for taking the class online. Students needing a letter from us proving class completion may request one from us.
Fingerprinting is the responsibility of each student to obtain their HQL. Live scan fingerprinting is at a separate location once you begin the application process We recommend MARI (Mid Atlantic Regional Investigations) on West Street in Annapolis. Therei is also a live scan finger printing site in Easton, Maryland.

YOU CAN NOT TAKE CODEINE, PERCOCET, COUCH MEDICINE WITH CODINE OR ANY OTHER NARCOTIC BASED MEDICINE 8 HOURS PRIOR OR DURING THE CLASS AND SHOOTING PORTION. IF YOU APPER TO BE UNDER ANY INFLUENCE OF A NARCOTIC, YOU WILL BE TOLD TO LEAVE. NO REFUND WILL BE GRANTED.
IF YOU ARE A CONVICTED FELON, SEX OFFENDER OR SOMEONE WHO IS BARRED FROM POSSESSING A FIREARM LEGALLY, YOU ARE NOT LEGALLY PERMITTED TO ATTEND THIS CLASS. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR IT.
IF YOU ARE USER OF MARIJUANA OR HAVE A MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARD, CHECK WITH THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE TO SEE IF THEY WILL ISSUE YOU A HQL PRIOR TO TAKING THIS CLASS. IF YOU HAVE A SMELL OF MARIJUANA ON YOU AT CLASS, YOU WILL BE TOLD TO LEAVE . NO REFUND WILL BE GRANTED.
IF YOU HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A MENTAL DISORDER SUCH AS PTSD OR ANY OTHER METAL DISORDER, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND THIS CLASS UNLESS THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE AUTHORIZES IT. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS.
IF YOU HAVE CLAUSTROPHOBIA YOU MAY CONSIDER NOT TAKING THIS CLASS. THE SHOOTING RANGE REQUIRES BOTH SHOOTER AND INSTRUCTOR TO SHOOT FROM A SMALL CONFINED SPACE FIRING LANE. IT CAN BE HOT, CRAMPED, LOUD AND UNCOMFORTABLE DURING THE SHOOTING PORTION OF THIS CLASS.
IF YOU HAVE A FEAR OF FIREARMS, THIS CLASS MAY NOT BE FOR YOU. IF YOU DECIDE THAT YOU WILL TAKE THIS CLASS, YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO TELL THE INSTRUCTOR PRIOR THE THE CLASS OF YOUR FEAR.
UNSAFE ACTS WITH A FIREARM IN THE CLASSROOM OR ON THE RANGE MAY LEAD TO BEING TOLD THAT YOU MUST LEAVE. NO REFUND WILL BE GRANTED.
PERSONS WHO REPEAT SIGNING UP FOR CLASSES AND DO NOT ATTEND MAY BE BARRED FROM TAKING OUR CLASSES IN THE FUTURE.

MILITARY VETERANS: You are not to take the class to your HQL. Just submit your DD-214 with an honorable discharge to the Maryland State Police with your application.

After you obtain your HQL, you may want to use us to take the required 16 hour training class for your Maryland wear and carry pistol license.
16 Hour REQUIRED Initial Maryland State Pistol License Course
You need a 16-Hour training in order to obtain a pistol license you are trying to obtain in the State of Maryland:
After you take the 4 hour classroom you will need to individually schedule with Barry a TWO one 6 hour blocks to live fire practice with your pistol, do advanced drills and qualify under the Maryland State standard. You are required to pay instructor fees in advance and you are responsible for all the costs listed below:
$50 for Instructor travel time and $50 an hour for Instruction time. Total $650
On Target inc Shooting Range cost is as follow $28.00 for the first hour and $16.50 an hour after that. 12 hours ( if you have a legal place to shoot, we do not have to use the range. We need written permission to shoot a 9mm on the property PRIOR to shooting.)

After you have your wear and carry pistil license you will need an 8 hour refresher every time you reapply for your pistol license.
